What you will see in the picture is a view of the
female pasture, under the barn overhang or inside the barn depending
on where the alpacas are. I switch the camera from inside to the
best view. The alpacas are usually outside unless it is
raining or snowing, but always inside for pellet feeding time.
That is when you might see the big green door closed.
They get pellets each morning around 10 am, and
fresh hay in the afternoon usually around 4 pm. In nicer
weather feeding of hay will be outside.
Our LGDs (livestock guardian dogs) live in
the barn with the females and crias, and have access to the entire
ranch. They are out with the alpacas 24 hours a day. The boys
were born 10-20-03. We added a female pup in Oct 2005. Click

May
12, 2008 Well it is snowing this morning. This
is why we dont shear in May, and why I prefer our babies to arrive
in June. It probably won't last and the alpacas are still
wearing their winter clothes so they dont mind at all.
Yesterday it was warm enough that the girls got to go wading in the
stream! At least the pastures look all clean for now!
Today's photo: In
case you missed the early morning barn cam view - this was taken at
