fiber

I first became attracted to alpacas because of their delightful nature as animals, and the lifestyle they could afford. I knew their fiber was an important part of the picture, but I really did not understand the qualities of it, and preferred to learn about the animals themselves. But with prodding from "a fiber friend" I decided to learn to spin, and have enjoyed the fiber of these wonderful animals more each year.

Alpaca fiber is warmer than wool, softer to the hand, very lightweight for it's warmth, and comes in 22 natural colors. It is a delight to spin, and having yarn from my own animals to knit with pleases me more than I ever thought it would!  Click here to read more about alpaca fiber

As my appreciation for alpaca fiber grows, I know better how to manage the environment for my herd, and have been breeding for fiber qualities that I can appreciate on a new level.

Looking for alpaca fiber?  Visit or email to see what is currently available.  I have raw fleece, roving and yarn for sale in many colors. Please email me for more information on what colors are currently available.

Shearing in 2006 will be in May.  Call if you want to reserve a fleece!

Here is what the fiber looks like right off the animal.

This is roving, the result of carding.  It aligns the fibers to get them ready for spinning.
